Los alumnos del Máster en Ingeniería y Fabricación Aditiva, MIFA han tenido la oportunidad de visitar las instalaciones de IMDEA en Getafe, Madrid.

La red de Institutos IMDEA (Instituto Madrileño de Estudios Avanzados), fueron creados por la comunidad de Madrid con el objetivo de fomentar las actividades de I+D+i científicas y tecnológicas y en torno a siete áreas estratégicas: agua, energía, materiales, nanociencias, networks, software y empresarial.

Junto a María Teresa Pérez Prado, investigadora senior y directora adjunta de IMDEA Materiales, los estudiantes del MIFA han tenido la ocasión de trasladar el aula por un día y recibir allí sus clase sobre fabricación aditiva en metales. Durante la primera parte de la visita, visitaron las modernas instalaciones y laboratorios de experimentación donde vieron los avances en nanocompuestos multifuncionales basados en polímeros, células solares basadas en sistemas de nanocarbono, y almacenamiento electroquímico de energía. Además nos mostraron el reactor químico para producir fibras de nanotubos de carbono.

Luego los alumnos se concentraron en el temario del programa donde profundizaron en la tecnología de impresión 3D en metal. Además de conocer los procesos de fabricación de polvo metálico, la caracterización de los mismos, la defectologia propia de polvo metálico en distintas aleaciones, etc. Pudieron ver las instalaciones de IMDEA destinadas a la fabricación y caracterización de polvo así como las futuras instalaciones de sinterizado mediante técnicas SLM (Sistema SLM de Renishaw)y caracterización de las estructuras fabricadas mediante dicha técnica.

Como siempre, EDDM Training pone mucho énfasis en la importancia de visitar empresas del sector y darles la oportunidad a los alumnos de salir de la rutina, vivir un día de clase diferente y ver “in situ” el trabajo e investigación que se está llevando a cabo a nivel nacional en la impresión 3D y la fabricación digital avanzada.
