Nuestros alumnos del Máster en Impresión 3D y Fabricación Aditiva (MIFA) de EDDM Training, continúan su formación presencial cumpliendo todos los protocolos sanitarios. En esta ocasión, han llevado a cabo las presentaciones de la Práctica 4: Diseño y Fabricación de componente metálico mediante SLM guiados por Manuel Almazán, ingeniero mecánico.

El caso práctico consiste en fabricar las estructuras de soporte de unos grippers que funcionan por vacío, utilizando la tecnología de impresión 3D SLM (Selective Laser Melting). Este método consiste en la aplicación de un láser que funde de manera selectiva zonas de un lecho de polvo metálico, creando así piezas de forma aditiva. Pero, a diferencia de la tecnología SLS, con esta técnica es necesario anclar la pieza mediante soportes. Dichos soportes ayudan a evacuar calor, haciendo el proceso de enfriamiento mucho más uniforme, evitando grandes deformaciones o la aparición de elevadas tensiones residuales que pueden llegar a producirse debido a las altas temperaturas del proceso. Posteriormente, estos soportes se eliminan de forma manual una vez la pieza se haya enfriado.

Con esta tecnología se busca mejorar las limitaciones de las situaciones actuales, como la inercia provocada por el peso elevado de los sistemas y de los objetos transportados, las conducciones de vacío poco optimizadas y la creación de piezas complejas mediante mecanizado. De esta forma, se consigue reducir el peso de la estructura mediante optimización topológica y la integración del sistema de succión en la propia estructura gracias a la impresión 3D.

Para llevar a cabo estos objetivos, los alumnos deben diseñar teniendo en cuenta unos requisitos de peso, tensión admisible y dimensiones muy estrictos. Primero, han tenido que realizar la optimización topológica con Inspire, pudiendo analizar de esta forma las líneas de carga. Después, han diseñado en CATIA en base a la optimización topológica y, con este mismo programa, han ejecutado un análisis FEM para validar el modelo analizando las zonas con los valores de tensión máximos. Por último, han realizado la simulación del proceso de fabricación en SLM con Inspire (módulo Print3D). Y, próximamente, os podremos mostrar el resultado final de estos diseños.
